A Christmas Change on the Front Porch...

With the early onset of winter weather in Minnesota, we spent the last warm day before the first snowstorm doing some of the outdoor Christmas decorating!  This is the front porch set-up!  I used the old white picket fence section as a backdrop again, and my little old wood bench is topped with a big pot of fresh evergreens and silk poinsettias...

I have an old red sled, a fun plaid scarf, and three pairs of ice skates...

I love these great icicle lights~ they blend right into the real icicles...

I painted this sign a few years ago on a whitewashed crate end...

I think it makes a welcoming entryway!

Adorable porch decorations. We do think alike. I have a sled and some skates that usually go on my porch too. Love those icicle lights. Haven't seen any similar. How long ago did you get them and where did you find them? Mimi

Oh! I really like your display. I picked up some old ice skates last year and a sled earlier this week. I doubt my visions of a set up will be as sweet and nice as yours.

This is so pretty! I can't wait for Thanksgiving weekend. I'm going to get my porch converted from Thanksgiving to Christmas. I have an old sled I typically put in my foyer but think this year she'll be on the porch. We'll see. Can't decide if I want skates for her or a gorgeous evergreen wreath. So hard!

What beautiful porch decorations! I love the sled and the skates. Recently I found a long sled and almost bought it, but wasn't sure it would fit in my car. Now I'm regretting passing it up.

Hi Linda,
Your porch looks so festive and ready for winter and the holidays. I love all the color and the details. I have my husband's old boyhood sled that I'm using inside this year. It's such a great piece to display things on.
Have a great weekend.

Your entry way is beautiful, Linda! Now you need to come and do mine! I love how the greenery looks dusted in snow, and those icicle lights look so real! I also love how you repurposed the crate and made it into a neat sign. Such a welcoming entrance!

Makes me want to come in and have hot chocolate!! If I put out ice skates and fresh greens the greens would die in a few days and no one would know what the skates were. I'll enjoy your front porch!!

It looks just like a winter wonderland. I love the ice skates hung on the fence. It's still too early (and to warm) to think about changing out my fall for Christmas here but I know I won't be waiting much longer.

What a cute idea! Of course, I couldn't use it here in South GA where we get a tiny bit of snow about once every 10-15 years!!!

What a sweet holiday porch vignette! Soooo festive! I will not be doing any Christmas decorating for another week as it is suppose to be in the mid to upper 70's here in Texas the next few days.....one day we are in shorts and the next day we need a "parka"! Crazy Texas Weather, but I love it! Happy Thanksgiving...Cathy aka GGJ

I love love love LOVE this on your front porch! I swear, if I was ever passing through your neighborhood, I'd totally stop and knock on your door to meet you...this is SO welcoming!
I love the red sleigh, the skates and you put it together oh so nicely!!!!
Most of all, it all goes perfect with the Minnesota snow. People would think I'm kind of crazy if I set my front porch up like that here in Louisiana with our 70 degree weather. But I can guarantee you, if I had a sleigh and some skates, I'd let them think what they wanted!!!! I love it!!!!!

Love it! I'm in Mnpls now to pick up my daughter for TG. Hope the ice melts enough for us to go out for dinner tonight.

We used to live by Rochester and I had a sled with ice skates but sold them when we moved to TX. Big mistake!
Keep warm, Susanne.
