Vintage Yardsticks...

With all the garage sales this time of year, an easy and inexpensive find is vintage yardsticks!  Often under a dollar, or even in the free box, they are worth picking up for all kinds of projects!

All you have to do is check out Pinterest and search "yardstick", to see all of the inspiration ideas out there. I love the different styles of numbers, colors, and advertising...

I love the look and decided to display them as artwork in the sunporch.  I fanned them out in a tall wall basket...

It makes a real statement on the wall!

Have you used vintage yardsticks in your projects?

I am joining...

Until next time...

  1. I love (as always!) what you found and then what you did with it!!!!

Not seen a lot of yard sticks over here, though a few years ago I bought my self a fold up wooden ruler 24" long that I just could not resist. I haven't 'done' anything with it - it just lives happily in my pencil pot!!!

Hope you have a lovely week.... we are predicted much rain and gale force winds later today and then after Wednesday a heatwave - upto 30 degrees! Crazy!

  3. What a creative idea Linda, and so simple too. I LOVE vintage yardsticks and pick them up whenever I can find them at a good price which isn't too often these days.

  9. Linda - love your collection of yard sticks. Several posts back on one of my Saturday Treasures, I had a huge star made out of yardsticks that I had gotten at a craft show. I really like it.

  10. YES!!! I have always had a fascination with rulers and yardsticks. I trimmed my bathroom mirror from ones I collected from around my hometown. Now everyday I look in the mirror and never forget where I came from.

  14. At one time, I was picking up vintage yard sticks with ads on them everywhere I went. Our apt is not vintage and I miss decorating with all my vintage stuff. Praying for a home in a year or so that we can fix up. Love your stuff. Always.

  15. I love yardsticks too! The most creative use for them was at a friends home, she used them as wainscoting in her powder room. Sooo cute! Mimi

  20. Never seen one of these before. I do have an old wooden ruler that used to belong to my grandfather and it looks like a smaller version of these. But I only have the one :-)

  23. Hi Linda :)

That looks really cute! The only thing I have that comes close is the wood ruler that I had in elementary school lol In fact, I wonder where it went....

  28. I love yardsticks and rulers. If you would like to see mine look here: http://www.justlikegrammashouse.com/2014/04/09/yardsticks/

They are so interesting to look at, everyone should have a display to add height to a corner and interest to a space.

They are also very handy to grab when you need to know how long something is, lol.
