Decorating The Entryway For Early Fall

Well, Labor Day has come and gone, and for me it signals the coming of fall!  To be honest, it has felt like fall here for a couple of weeks already, so I have begun adding early fall accents to our decor!

Early Fall Entryway Decor Ideas From Itsy Bits And Pieces Blog

Today I am joining a creative group of bloggers for the transitioning From Summer To Fall Blog Hop! A BIG thank you to Amber of Follow The Yellow Brick Home for all she did to put this together for us!  I'll be sharing links to the other posts at the end of this post. If you are hopping over from Bluesky At Home, welcome!
I know you enjoyed Carol's lovely early fall decor!

I wanted to share our simple early fall entryway decor at the lakehouse with you!
I am using an entry bench that belonged to my daughter and son-in-law.  They no longer needed it, and it is perfect in our entry to create a foyer area.  Our family is always trading furniture...so nice!  This piece now blocks off a redundant hallway to the kitchen, and we are adding a permanent wall behind this bench soon.
The hallway will then be annexed as a pantry off the kitchen.

Now when you walk in the house this is your view.
For early fall I like to add more neutral color changes and textures, and often add deeper colors as fall progresses.  An old Pendleton jacket adds instant fall and a little color...

Velvet, wool, leaves, crockery, and baskets all add fall texture...

  1. Linda nice touches. Normally I find squirrels nutty, see what I did there? Sad try I know. I love your squirrel statue a cutie.

Dried hydrangea are a staple in our home the entire fall. I can't get enough. I'll add pumpkins to them later on. They look pretty on this new piece.

    Enjoy your Monday

  4. Hi Linda! Your thumbnail pic from the linky party caught my eye. I guess we like similar things. Love your entry. Especially the baskets.

  5. I have gotten so much inspiration from all my "hopping" friends, but now I'm lost. I thought I knew what I would do for my mantel and now you show the fun baskets and I'm torn.

Baskets, books, birdcages - I wonder if I can incorporate it all.

    Thanks for the inspiration

  6. Linda that is a PERFECT piece for your entry! I didn't even notice how it blocked the otherwise hallway until you mentioned it, but it fits like a glove. I'm loving your use of the Pendleton plaid jacket and the umbrellas. Adding the items on top really is effective too. I wish my family traded like yours does! Instead, I seem to be the one who disposed of much of my furniture in our downsize, benefitting several of my family.

  8. That bench fits perfect. I am not feeling Fallish yet, I might just skip decorating and nap.

  9. Nice bench and it's styled so cute! Love the squirrel and fall touches. Where are you that it's been feeling like fall for a couple of weeks? It's still stinkin' hot here in TX.

    1. Thank you, Cindy! I live in Minnesota...we've had some days with the highs in the 60's, and there are maples turning red. Definitely moving into fall here...

  12. This little entry to be looks perfect styled for fall. I really love the rustic and natural elements you used. Even though I have a lot of vintage decor I am craving simplicity in my seasonal decorating. I adore the look you have created. I also love those vintage umbrellas. Now I am reminded that I am missing a vintage plaid umbrella. Oh I will win the battle with the basement one of these days!

Thank you so much for joining the hop! Happy almost fall!

  14. Love your fall entrance and all the wonderful vintage textures, Linda! And those plaid umbrellas-swoon! I've got floral ones for spring, but no plaid ones;) Glad to hear other families swap furniture, too; maybe it's a dealer thing? Easy come, easy go;)

  15. Linda,
Your entry-created-from-hallway is perfect for fall. I love your white basket on top of the bench. What a great idea to add a wall and pantry on the other side of this new entry. Can we ever have too much storage for the kitchen? I think not.

  16. Linda, it’s awesome that the coat rack fits perfectly in the hall. I hope you’ll share your hall/pantry makeover. I love how you have styled the coat rack with the jacket, woven purse and the umbrellas. Such nice fall color and patterns. The little squirrel is a cute addition. What a nice view to walk into.

  18. Beautiful decor, Linda! I'm not in the mood for fall yet, not even with decor. Maybe in a couple of weeks. I'm hanging on to every last bit of summer that I can. :-)

  19. Linda, I love the mix of textures and plaids you have in your vignette. There's something about plaid umbrellas that makes me nostalgic. Maybe they remind me of New England fall weather? Your whole vignette looks great! Glad to be on this hop with you.

  21. What great luck that the coat rack fit perfectly in your hallway and it's great that you got it for free! You've styled this entry area so pretty for fall. The first thing that caught my eye was the basket that looks like it is either a purse or a fishing bag. It reminds me of the Aigner bags that my mom loved in the 70's and 80's. Your umbrellas have such pretty colors and patterns and it's great that you still use them. Good luck with your hallway/kitchen pantry project. That's exciting!

  25. I spotted your plaid umbrellas first thing. Gotta have plaid in the fall! It sounds like your plans of blocking off the hall and adding a pantry is really smart. Hope you get to keep the entryway bench. It's so cute the way you styled it!

  26. Linda, the swapped piece is perfect in your entry way! I am such a lover of plaid, so the shirt and umbrellas stole my heart. Hubby and I visited the Pendleton store in Washington a few years ago. I loved it and brought home a blanket. Hubs got an awesome shirt.
    hugs,

  27. What a wonderful way to welcome guests to your fall home! Those vintage plaid umbrellas are such a treasure and make a wonderful display. The faux fall leaves are so pretty, without going all orange so easy in the season!
