Fun DIY Button Card Projects

This week I've had a lot of fun working on some button card art projects!
Who doesn't love buttons?
My daughter calls sorting buttons..."button therapy"!

Recently I became a member of the Thrifty Chicks group!
Each month they challenge themselves with a reuse project!
I'm looking forward to more of the fun challenges in the future!

Thrifty Chicks Reuse Projects

This time it is all about buttons!
I chose to do an art project with some of my pretty button cards.
They have such beautiful graphics!

And I decided to make some of my own button cards using loose buttons!
I hope you'll try it, too!  You could use any heavy cardstock,
but I decided to use some decorative old photo folders!

They have a great look, and it's a good way to use some spare, or damaged ones.

I cut them into rectangles with a paper cutter, trying to include the
decorative elements of the folders as much as possible.

I chose some nice buttons from my jars...

I used this fun set of
for most of my homemade button cards, but you could
use any stamps you have, or even draw your own designs.

I laid the buttons on the card, marked the holes with a pencil...

and carefully poked them through with a pin...watch your fingers!

Then I simply sewed the buttons onto the decorative cards.

Didn't they turn out cute!?
I think it would be a great way to display special buttons, too!

This regal stamp was another I had in my stamp stash...
Always check the crafting aisle at the thrift store...
I have found many nice stamps and sets there!

Next I decided to frame them as artwork.
I had some decorative front pages from old, wrecked up books, and I scanned and printed them to use as background paper.

You can right click on the four decorative pages below to save, and print them.  They will print best at 5 x 7 size, but you can try full page, too.  Just cut them to fit your frame opening.

I am always on the hunt for interesting frames at the thrift store.
Here's how some of the button cards look framed!

You can use photo mounting corners, if you don't want to damage the button card.
I had old ones, but you can find them in the scrapbooking area of the craft store.
