Cozy Winter Decor Ideas

Happy New Year!  I just took a little break to spend time with family and to pause and refresh!  I hope your holidays were wonderful! Our Christmas decor is mostly down now, but I always love to transition it into a winter decor
that still keeps that cozy feeling in the house!

Cozy Winter Decor

We have had warm weather for January in Minnesota,
and little snow, but I know our snowiest months are yet to come.
And being the hibernator that I am, I enjoy celebrating the season!
We are at the lakehouse much of the time now and it is such a cozy home.
You can see how our Christmas decor has evolved for winter...

This is one of my favorite old thrifted winter prints.
It works perfectly over the coat rack in the entryway...

I found this print for a dollar at the thrift store.  I had already started painting over the dark blue frame when I thought to take the photo.

I painted the whole thing white and made a simple hand painted sign.  You could use stickers or stencil it...such easy, inexpensive seasonal art!

This wreath was created using a tutorial from The Navage Patch!
It was so fun and easy to make, I made some as gifts, too!

I've been picking up little wood houses when I see them at the
thrift store and painting over them...I was inspired by
Katie's Christmas cottages over at Let's Add Sprinkles.

  3. Oh, I LOVE those thrifted prints, especially the last one you showed. I can see that I need to really check out the art at our local thrift stores. Usually when I go there I am only looking for frames.

Many lovely winter ideas in this post. Thanks so much for sharing! We live in New Hampshire and snow is on the way. I will be transitioning to winter decor this week, so can use these good ideas.

  6. These are great! I had mostly reds and white and had very little just winter stuff. I shopped small shop locals and was going to get some 1/2 Christmas stuff that would work for Winter, the manager wouldn't discount it because she said it was "winter." Of course, she was right, but it was on the same table as the winter and 1/2 price sign. Anyway, it all looks fabulous. I'm loving the Spring weather this week. I know it's just teasing us abit but so glad we have sunshine and not all the rain we've had for weeks.

    1. Thank you, Kris! We haven't had much of a hard winter in the midwest, have we? I've hardly had to wear a coat!

  9. I laughed when I came to the Brrr sign. We don't usually get much of a winter and if you missed my most recent post on Instagram, it was a basket with colorful flowers blooming in the garden. But, we are actually having a winter this year and I think I say Brrr three or four times a day.

    1. I remember warm California winters...after I lived there for a few years, I was saying brrr and bundling up when it hit 50 degrees. Now I don't even wear a coat until it's under 20 degrees lol.

  10. I love your Minnesota winter decor, Linda. You have similar weather to ours so I get it...cozy and comfy and pretty to boot! I LOVE that green Let It Snow sign. I came back to it twice...lol They are usually red and don't know that I've ever seen a green one--it is wintery rather than Christmasy to me.

I hope you have a beautiful, wonderful 2019! xo Diana
