Simple Candlestick Paint Makeovers

One thing I always hunt for when I'm out at thrift stores?
Candlesticks.
Wood or metal, they can be expensive to buy new, and are
often available very inexpensively at thrift stores.

Recently I found these wooden candlesticks...I actually found a pair of the one on the right. I liked the shapes, but the finishes were worn and scratched.

I used a DecoArt Americana acrylic craft paint called Driftwood,
kind of a greige color, on the pair.

I like the farmhouse style look they have now.

I mixed up a couple of different red paint colors to get a color I thought would be pretty for Christmas decorating, for the other candlestick.

So simple and inexpensive, but it makes a statement now.
My paintbrush has been getting a workout with that red color lately, as I've been painting pieces that will soon be in my Christmas decor!
It's an easy way to bring in a new look!

Until next time...

  5. Great finds, you can use them for so much!! We have a great thrift store in town which is unfortunately only open in the warmer months as there is no heat....I find I always get sooooo overwhelmed when I go in there, there are what feels like millions of things to look through!

  16. My Goodwill store is always filled with candlesticks! My mom and I were just talking about that the other day - that no one needs to buy new; just head to the thrift store! Your makeovers turned out great. Love the farmhouse look on the greige pair.
