Spring and Life Happening...

Happy Spring!  It's been awhile since I have posted!
It has been two months since my knee replacement surgery.
I so appreciate all of your sweet comments and emails checking in on me.

I have dealt with several health conditions and many surgeries,
but I admit that this one has been the hardest.

I have spent many hours in this continuous passive motion machine, as well as elevation, exercises, and physical therapy several times a week.

My husband and family have been a great support to me...caring
for me, and lifting my spirits.  My husband walked in with this breakfast
one morning...giving me a great laugh!

He has done all the cooking, cleaning, driving...luckily having some family leave time he could take.  He hung a bird feeder outside
our bedroom window so I could watch the birds as I rested.
I hit the jackpot when I married him.

We have had meals, and cookies dropped off...and lovely flowers...

Progressing from a walker, and then a cane, I am beginning
to walk carefully unsupported now. I have lots more work to do.
But I can see a light at the end of the tunnel!
My husband had surgery himself this week, and is doing very well.
So you can see we have had lots of life happening here!
Meanwhile, spring has passed by so quickly that I have nearly missed it!
Here's a little of the spring beauty in our yard now...

And we have some new little grandchicks...so sweet!

I hope to be back to blogging and the creative life on a more regular basis...
our home is still decorated for Easter!  And I can hardly wait
to go to garage sales and thrift stores again! I am in withdrawal!
Thank you so much for stopping by...I appreciate you!

Until next time...

  1. Linda, when I broke my knee, I was not prepared for the length of time it would take to heal. I've heard it's harder than knee replacement but somehow I just think knees are difficult regardless. My advice? Hang in there, do your therapy, keep trying to improve, and most of all give it time. It was two years before I could climb stairs without pain. I hired a personal trainer when I ran out of therapy. I worked with him for two years to build my muscles back up around the knee. It does get better with each month, I promise! Hugs,

  2. Linda, best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery. I have long known that this is a tricky surgery to recover from but know that you will be back to doing what you love soon. Attitude is everything, and yours is great. I enjoy reading your blog and look forward to more posts. Sue

  10. Haave had both knees done at different times, three years apart. Although I was able to walk and drive to the dr. office for my two week checkup, I still went through a lot of discomfort and could not sleep for two weeks. Got so depressed, but eventually it all got better. I wish you all the best in your journey to be good again. Miss you.

  18. Oh goodness, that is a darn cute breakfast, love it! I hope you get out soon since the garage sales are starting now for us. :-) (it's too bad it rained most of the weekend though for the city wide event, I only went to a few sales)

  19. It's wonderful to see a post from you again! I've been wondering how you're doing lately. I'm having such a long (well, to me) recovery just from a menisectomy; I absolutely cannot fathom having knee replacement! It's been 12 weeks for me and I'm still in PT twice/week. My knee is still swollen and so tight and stiff, though it's gradually getting better. I can go down the stairs much easier now and don't limp as much when I'm walking. What in the world is that contraption you're in, with the straps and the sheepskin?!

Sounds like your husband has been taking such good care of you...and I love the breakfast that he made for you! That had to put a smile on your face. Continued prayers for your healing.

  20. Glad to hear you are on the mend, Linda, slowly but surely. Also glad to hear that you have had lots of help and support and a great guy to get you through. Lots of spring beauty there, even if you have missed some of it, but summer and fall will be even better for you when you are back on your feet. Sending positive thoughts and wishes for continued healing. Hugs xo Karen

  22. I'm so glad that you are recovering well from your surgery! Did you have both knees done at the same time?! I bet that is a challenge. My step dad needs to have that done. I don't know if he ever will or not. He's elderly and has some other more serious health problems that need to be addressed first. So glad that your husband has been able to care for you so well. That is a big plus! Hope you continue to improve and enjoy your holiday weekend.

  23. I hope you continue to recover well. My mom had her one knee done last year and wants to have the other done in the fall. Amazing what they can do isn't it?
