A Simple Project and Winners...

Have you started any Christmas decorating yet? I am slowly adding some Christmas decorating into our home and am giving some things I already have, a makeover for a new look!

Last year we decorated in a very neutral decor, but this year I am finding myself drawn to red!  I decided to take a wooden crate from out in the garage and gave the front panel a rough coat of DecoArt Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Everlasting.

Then I went onto PicMonkey (affiliate link) and, using
the Design feature, made the "Be Merry" graphic above,
and printed it out on my printer.
You can choose a font and make whatever message you want.

I used one of my simplest pattern transfer techniques...
rubbing a pencil over the backside of the design,

then simply positioning it, pencil-side down
on the crate and tracing the letters.

It leaves a nice pattern that you can fill in with paint or marker.

I used DecoArt's Media Fluid Acrylic in Cadmium Red Hue.
It's a nice bright red with a cheery look!

After a light distressing with a sanding block, I finished the piece with DecoArt's Americana Decor Light Satin Varnish.

I am using the crate in our entryway with a vintage plaid throw...

I love the look!

I am a member of the DecoArt Blogger Outreach Program and received product used in this project. All opinions are my own.

Before I go thank you for all of your nice
comments about my Thanksgiving Hutch!

The winners of the the vintage turkey candles are~

Until next time...
Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. Very cute! Now tell me how to do this. Do you do each letter on a separate piece of typing paper???

    1. I made one single graphic and printed it to 8x10. That way you don't have to space patterns perfectly...it's already done on the design you made.

  14. I love pops of red, year round. I won't start Christmas decorating till after Thanksgiving. It's just what I do. This year might be a little off as I will be having new carept installed in my living room and master bedroom. I know, what timing! Sale at both Lowes and Home depot so I need to do it NOW.

I love your little stencil. I hope I can find some time, to do at least 1 crafty thing this holiday.
