Lazy Days Of Summer...

As time passes and we enter into the lazy days of late summer, I always find myself loving the golden and brown tones of nature...

I begin to go through my hutch drawers
and bring out brown transferware...

I love to use straw hats and baskets...

and pretty linens.

I bring in golden colors with florals...

The other day I found a lovely old
Victorian floral painting at the thrift store...

The colors are so wonderfully muted, and perfect for the late summer decorating I like to do...

The name of the woman who painted it was on the back.  Such a treasure to me...and it stopped me in my tracks at the thrift store.  It's always a wonderful surprise to find something like this!

Soon I'll begin to share some late summer decorating ideas!

Thank you for all of your kind comments on my last post!  I love reading them and appreciate your visits!  It has been
a very full summer here, but I often post photos on my
Instagram page, that you don't see on the blog.
I would love to have you stop by and visit me there, too!

Until next time...

  2. Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty! This all gets me right through the heart! So many things that I love. The linens make me swoon. I need the light that living with white gives, but I respond so much more emotionally to these homey colors and textures. The painting is just wonderful! I'm always amazed at what can turn up at a thrift store. I'm gonna go have another look!

  3. I like more muted things than bright stuff. Love the dishes. Your little painting is a great find. When I was younger, I did not know that transfer ware came in so many colors. I think I like them all. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  4. Love the homey and cozy vignettes. The neat thing about these are that you can add a few fall things and gently ease into the fall season. Love your brown transferware!!

    Have a great weekend.

  7. hmmm, I was looking at the first red sunflower in the garden and thinking---oh good, Fall is just around the corner. Wishful thinking with the 100 degree temps we are all suffering with. I love your brown transferware...too. Thanks for the peek, Sandi

  10. Are you sure you don't have fall on your mind? ;-) Regardless, sometimes using muted colors in the summer is a nice break from all the bright colors. That vintage painting is beautiful - you find the best stuff!

  15. I too seem to be gravitating to the hues of Autumn now, it makes me feel Cooler even tho' we're still in the swelteringly high triple digit temps here in the Desert. Loved your Collections and that Lovely Art piece from one of the Unknown Masters. Blessings from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
