A Sweet Cottage-Style Guest Room...

Recently, I shared some charming vintage doll furniture I found at the thrift store.  It was perfect in our guest room. Today, I thought I'd share the rest of the room with you!  This room has had several uses in the past...it was my daughter's room, my studio for awhile, and now a small guest room.  Decorated in a cottage style,
it also is a place to display some of my dog collectibles...

I've used several vintage dog prints to create
a small gallery wall as you enter the room...

Love this old tie and belt rack...

The room has built in shelving, and serves as a small library...

One of my favorite old tole trays...

The room has a light an airy feeling with Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic white linens on the bed, window, and covering the closet opening...

I actually planned the room around this beautiful large, old quilt.  It was made by my great-grandmother and is very special to me.  You can read a post I did about it several years ago HERE.

This was the perfect place to use some of my vintage pillows, too!

I used a fun vintage painting and print, as well as stacked artist cases...

The ledge near the window holds some of my goodies...

Hope you enjoyed the tour...before I go...

  4. I love how you have incorporated your favorite things into this room. The hanging quilt reminds me of an article I just read in the current issue of Country Living magazine about different ways to display quilts. They hung one as you did but over a bed as a headboard. Enjoying your blog,
    Cheryl

Love the guest room. So inviting. I like the dog collection. So sweet.
my favorite thing that I appreciate the most? The book shelves...and the fact that they aren't 'deconstructed' or turned around! I love the variety that all the color adds to the space.
To that I say... Ah! a real library!

As a quilter, I can certainly enjoy and appreciate your family heirloom...it was an inherited quilt from my grandmother that inspired me to take up the hobby. Yours is beautiful and I'll be clicking the link to read the story now : )

I wish I had thought to hang some of my vintage quilts, I put them on beds and eventually with wear and tear and washing...well, you know. The shelves of books are a plus for any guest and I love all of your vintage pieces! What an inspiring room! :)

Thanks for popping in. The mason jar/leaf candle holders were very simple and so few supplies! I already have ideas for seasonal candles. They are stunning on my mantel and I am not crafty at all! :)

  40. Linda, I had one of my Japanese students tell me he is in Minn. he is in the country, not city and is worried about the winter. Working at a University. I advised him to start looking for a carpool! Not sure where he is exactly. But if you see a young Asian man looking desperate.... I know you will take pity on him. Lol
