A Little Redecorating...

This summer, we decided to do a little redecorating in a bathroom.  No major remodeling...just a facelift for this TIRED room.  It was not a project we wanted to spend a lot on either.  We had a vanity which I painted white several years ago...

Peel and stick vinyl squares...which didn't stick so well anymore...

green walls, white towel bars and hooks, and a floral shower curtain.  It is an older Ralph Lauren, Meadow Way pattern curtain, which I still love, but I was ready for a change.
I'm keeping that wonderful faded
cottage rose fabric, though...

We bought a roll of heavy duty brown paper in the paint department, to roll out and make a paper pattern for new flooring.  This paper is so handy for many projects and is inexpensive.  We used glueless vinyl sheet flooring, which is easy
to cut and roll out yourself.

We really love the new floor...inexpensive, nice underfoot, and easy to clean.  I liked the way it ran in a narrower,
horizontal pattern, for a more modern feeling...

We went with simple board and batten on the wall.  This room has no windows and has always been dark, so I wanted to go with white on the bottom of the wall.

A board was used on top to make a small decorative ledge...

Paintable caulk was used to fill in the cracks, and the wall was painted  with Behr's Swiss Coffee.

Choosing the paint color for the top of the wall took took some deciding.  I ended up going with the second color from the right...a French gray color that I bought as an "oops" paint
for $5 for a gallon.

The vanity was painted black...

We are loving this room now...it feels like a completely new space!  It is so bright and clean feeling now.  We did replace the toilet, as the old one had to be removed when we replaced the floor, and we purchased a chair-height, water-saving model, that we love.

The wall color is perfect...and we went with black hooks.  The towel bar was unfinished wood, under $5,
that I spray painted black...

The metal hooks had a bit of coppery accenting when I bought them, so I sprayed those black, too...

I used some nature-inspired decorating...you might remember my

I love the soft cotton shower curtain, which so reminds me of old chenille!  I have washed it a few times and it just gets fluffier!  It is a Park B. Smith curtain from Kohls...

This charming little shelf was a thrift store find, which I spray painted white and topped with two old jars, a candle,
 and a fun bee print...

My arrow project piece went back up over the door...

I still have a few more things planned for the room...we want to frame the mirror, and I am making a valance to hang above the shower curtain!  But we are very happy with how it has turned out!

I love the white and feeling of light it gives, and the black vanity among all the whiteness is beautiful. So sweet with the little shelf and your pictures in nature!!
