That Time Of Year...

August is one of my favorite months.  Here in Minnesota, the heat and humidity begin to give way to drier, more comfortable weather with cooling breezes.  My thoughts begin to turn to fall, especially when our apples begin to ripen!  We have two large trees, different varieties, one of which begins to ripen much earlier than the other.  Once the apples begin to turn red, I need to begin picking them or they will just end up falling off the tree.  Both trees are loaded this year, and have nice looking apples, too...especially since we don't spray or anything.  Today, I picked the first of the crop!

Juicy, sweet-tart...

Doesn't this just make you think of fall, too?  I think I see an apple cobbler in my future...

I am joining Debra over at Common Ground for Be Inspired

Until next time...

  7. Our heat kicked on last night, which is unheard of in August around here. But it does have me thinking fall too. Your apples are pretty impressive considering you didn't spray them. Enjoy your cobbler!

  18. Not to mention the apple orchards here in Minnesota are destinations in themselves. The apples on our two trees don't look so big yet, I'm hoping they aren't stunted like all my veggies seem to be.

  30. WOW!!! what gorgeous apples. I live in Southern Mississippi and its still hot as hades here. You cannot hardly breathe. I cannot wait for some cooler weather. We grow lemons, satumas kumquats and oranges. Oh yea...and weeds. I would love to visit up North. I did get to go to Ohio to visit my blog partner and friend Sherry. I loved it.

  32. The weather here in northern IL was beautiful and cooler than normal (70's) all month until a few days ago when it hit 90 and hasn't stopped. Now the entire next week is supposed to be 90 - 95F! I normally love summer, but even this is a little too hot for my liking. ;-)
