A Sweet Old Painting...

Isn't this a lovely old painting?  It is on stretched canvas, with roses and geraniums.  The colors have beautifully muted over the years and it has a wonderful old patina.  It was probably done in the late 1800's to early 1900's when floral paintings were en vogue.  The amateur "Sunday painters" of the era did some charming naive works...and when I find one, it is a real treasure to me!  This one was from a garage sale last week...can you believe someone was selling it for a dollar?

The finish is beautifully crackled...

These old paintings look beautiful wherever they are used!  I will be using this one in our sunporch, which is still being finished (note the unfinished sheetrock).  This room is being done in a cottage-style with Americana~ my favorite space in our home...

I am joining Debra of Common Ground with etsy goodies for

Until next time...

  10. I was about to say I can't believe it, but I did find a fabulous Parton painting several years back. It wasn't until my neighbors saw it that I found it to have value - I just thought it was beautiful! Happy to follow through GFC - looking forward to seeing what else you find!
