Sheet Music Fun...

Last week I found a nice lot of vintage sheet music!  I really love this type...no artwork on the covers...and done in black type on off-white.  Such fun titles...

And I love all the decorative flourishes and different fonts used on each piece... and of course the sheet music!

I love using these for so many projects and collage...

Until next time...

  1. I love it all too! I was so glad to have a huge stash of it when I decided to put antique papers on the wall in my bathroom - it's far more beautiful than any wallpaper I would ever find in a store.

What do you have planned for your stash?

  2. Hi Linda

    I agree they are wonderful.

I love the different fonts and just how prettily they are designed. Isn't it great they survived. In the wrong hands they got have just been put in the bin.

I can imagine you using them in lots of beautiful projects.... I'm looking forward to it!

  5. My mother just sold her huge collection of sheet music after letting me take all that I wanted. ( it was a steal for any sort of collector or reseller, I just had no room for it all!) She was quite fond of the graphics on the covers. Now I have quite a few that have some intrinsic value so I don't want to cut them up. I have a bit of a dilemma about them since it was her collection. It would be easier if I had found them at a thrift shop.
She originally started collecting them when she was re-ling old wooden trunks that my dad was refinishing. She would use the cover photo against some decorative wallpaper that you would see when you opened the trunk. The sold a few hundred trunks that they refurbished that way over the years.

  8. Linda you always seem to find the neatest pages and ephemera. I don't know if you posted about this before or not...You can direct me there if so.
I was wondering- have you ever come across pages, books, magazines- whatever, that have a musty smell? If so, how do you treat them? Do you resell them or pass over them? Do you incorporate them into your collages?

    Thanks in advance, Pat

  14. I love it, too. I have a huge container of it that belonged to my Aunt and then some from hubby's grandmother. I think some of it is worth some money as it is old show tunes and some stuff from WWI. I should frame some of it I think.
