Learning To Fly...A New Collage...

I worked on a new collage this week!  I used a charming old book cover that I had been saving~ Robin by Frances Hodgson Burnett.   The book was in pieces, so I decided to alter the cover.  I scanned an old trade advertisement for spices that featured beautiful birds and roses... I didn't realize until I was done that the birds aren't even robins!  Oh well... I need to put my glasses on...

I used a piece of bark and added a little nest of shredded burlap with three tiny eggs, and made a little banner from an old sheet music title...

It has me thinking of spring...

Until next time...
Linda

  1. Oh my goodness, this is wonderful! I don't think it matters that the birds are not robins (which I wouldn't even have noticed had you not pointed it out). The little nest adds great texture and dimension. LOVE it!

  3. Oh! I LOVE this piece. I don't think it matters at all that the birds aren't robins. Actually, I think it gives the viewer something to discover and wonder if the artist (namely YOU) meant for them to be robins or not. Personally, I think that's maybe more important than having the birds match the title of the book.

Are you going to frame it? Or is it meant to hang, or lay flat, as it is?

    Hugs,
    Susan

  9. I have that book! Said Robin...

English robins look like the ones you have used. So you chose the right image!
