TIME For a Simple Project...

I worked on a fun simple project today!  I was reading Better Homes and Gardens 2010 issue of 100 Ideas Flea Market Style magazine~ they featured Sarah Andersen's home and this vignette of her old clock faces displayed on her mantle...

I love this look, but clock faces, especially the large ones, can be pricey.  I decided to see if I could make some!  The first place I checked out was The Graphics Fairy ~ Karen has wonderful clip art and graphics, and fun project tutorials, too!  I found two fun clock faces here and here.  I also scanned some other small alarm clock faces I have, and printed out all of the faces in different sizes and on slightly different colors of heavyweight card stock...

I cut them out and distressed a few...

You could use these to make an vignette like the one in the magazine (you could even glue these to stronger backings to make them stiffer), but I decided to make a large collage piece.  I had a piece of black mat board and cut it to a standard size 16" x 20", so I could easily frame it.  I played around with the clock faces until I had an arrangement I liked and glued them onto the mat board.  Now I am going to find a frame for it, when I'm out thrifting!  I love how it turned out~ so graphic~ and I'm looking forward to trying more projects with clock faces!

  15. I like the roman numeral clock face. They would like great just leaning up against wall.

I wish I could recall the blog that showed these mounted on cardboard; she used them as chargers under plates. It looked too cool.
