A Spring Day At The Lake...

Last weekend we went down to the lake to put the docks in (that's a neighbor's dock to the left, above), but it ended up being rainy and windy and we ended up doing yard and indoor work instead.  Thought I'd share some of the signs of spring there!  The daffodils look cheery despite the drizzle...

And trees were beginning to blossom...

So gray...

Fishing poles are ready...

and the dock sections are piled high, ready to go in...

a firepit is ready to go...another is on the beach.

Perennials are emerging...

Finally the sun came out in the afternoon...

and the winds whipped up!

But we always seem to have a lovely sunset!

Our family has a great time there...can't wait to go back and start spending time on the water!

Until next time...

Wonderful Goodies In The Mail...

You might remember a few posts back when I shared a lovely old floral tin I found!  Well, my friend Kat from Low Tide High Style was interested in buying it to use in a photoshoot.  Kat is a wonderful photographer and I asked if she would like to trade instead!  She is so generous and sent me a beautiful group of photos from her Wildlife and Beach Galleries!  I framed them up to display at our family lakehouse... won't they be perfect?

Sandpipers...

shells...

and a seagull...

and this lovely surprise... a photo from her trip to Europe...Fountain's Abbey in England!  I'm looking forward to framing this one up, too!

You'll have to visit her wonderful website, Kat Warren Photography , to see her beautiful portfolio and photographs she has for sale!  My photos don't do hers justice!  And if you haven't discovered her blog, Low Tide High Style ,  I hope you'll stop by and pay her a visit!  One of the sweetest bloggers around, she is also one of the most talented...her photographs and articles have appeared in Cottage Style, Country Sampler, Country Almanac, and Romantic Country!  I am always inspired by her willingness to "go for it"!    Thank you so much, my friend!

Also this week, I received a wonderful giveaway win from creative Ann of Moonbeams & Fireflies !  I won one of her charming handmade For Giggles and Grins Journals!

Isn't it lovely?

It is full of vintage and found papers...

little hidden surprises...

You know how I love vintage ephemera...

and anything with vintage bingo has my name on it!

Ann has such a fun blog... full of her repurposed projects and vintage collections!  I hope you'll stop by and say hi!  Thank you so much, Ann...I know I will have so much fun playing with this!

And I want to say a BIG thank you to all of you for your sweet and supportive comments about my entryway project...it inspires me to finish some of the other projects around here!

Lilac Love...

With spring comes the lilacs!  Don't you just love them?  They are here for such a short time!  We have a few varieties, including one which will bloom in early June.  I took some photos on a rainy morning here in Minnesota and played a little with some more of Kim Klassen's textures in Photoshop Elements.  These were taken on Creative Automatic mode with my Canon Rebel T2i...

This one just used a screen blend mode...

This one is as taken, just cropped...

Lilacs make such a beautiful photo subject!  I am joining~

Signs of Spring...

Spring has sprung in Minnesota and everything is green and beginning to blossom!  I thought I'd share a few signs of spring in our yard!  I am taking Kim Klassen's Photoshop Elements class right now~ it's a fun class and I have really been learning a lot.  I used it to practice with some photos this week!  The photo above, is my first attempt at adding texture...it's not hugely noticeable, but I loved the look it gave the photo!  My cherry tree is in bloom right now~ I love the delicate white blossoms...

I played with a little texture on this next photo as well as the hue saturation...

The groundcover periwinkles have burst into bloom...

and a nest is abandoned on the ground...

Hostas are coming up everywhere...

May is one of my favorite months of the year... how about you?

I am joining A Rosy's Note's  Photo Feature Friday

Until next time...

Ahhh...Spring In Minnesota...and Giveaway Goodies...

Well... this IS Minnesota after all...  We had several inches of snow fall here last night!  It IS pretty...but hopefully will be the last hurrah until NEXT winter!

The sun is shining now and it will be near 50 degrees today, so this will all melt quickly and green up the grass!

I wanted to share some fun giveaway wins with you, too!  I won a gorgeous necklace from sweet Debra of  Common Ground !  Her inspirational blog is always full of beauty!   I won a giveaway from her wonderful link party...

I was able to choose something from her lovely etsy shop !  You'll have to stop by and visit- it's full of the most beautiful pieces!  My piece has a chunky copper chain, a antique shoe buckle, and a blinged out key...

I love the beautiful colors and different metals...

and of course...a little bling is ALWAYS good...

She also sent me some fun goodies!

Vintage sheet music, French vocabulary cards, some fun recipe cards, an old key, and a sweet vintage crocheted piece...  Thank you SO much, Debra!  I just love everything!

Also this week, I received this sweet package from my friend Suzanne of  Privet and Holly !  A few posts back, I had a photo of the two of us enjoying meeting and spending the day together!  Isn't this wrapped sweetly?

She took a photography class a while back and had a giveaway of notecards she had made of some of her photos!  I was one of the lucky winners!  This is just the touch of spring I need today, Suzanne!

I just love the tulips...

Thank you so much, my friend!

Until next time... Hope you are having beautiful spring weather...and send some it my way!
