Making Some Fun Upgrades to the Lakehouse...

We are blessed to have a family lakehouse where we gather and have special times together.  We want a more rural and relaxed lifestyle in our everyday life...so...my husband and
I have made the decision to make the lakehouse
our full-time home in the next year or two!

This post is done in collaboration with PlumbTile

We have already begun making some upgrades.
(Excuse the mess...these are all workday shots.)
The house was very dark, with deep brown walls in many rooms.  We have begun painting the walls a light gray color, which is really making everything seem much brighter and more open...

The house has many details like arched doorways, old hardwood floors, and brick walls... and we are going to be re-doing it in a mid-century modern lakehouse/lodge design. (Yes, I LOVE modern design mixed with vintage!)

We decided to keep the original 1949 clear birch cabinets...but...

We replaced the 1980's handles and added modern light fixtures which is starting to give the room the style we are looking for...

There are lots of changes to come...
appliances, surfaces, sink, faucet.

I have many decisions to make...and thought I'd share some of my "dream kitchen wishlist" inspiration photos from PlumbTile with you today! They are Architectural Bath and Tile Specialists with a great online Kitchen and Bath Design Showroom.
They have a low price guarantee, free shipping,
and no sales tax outside of California.

The Zucchetti USA products have many beautiful faucet offerings!  I am especially attracted to the clean lines on these two designs.
I would choose a satin finish...

My dream kitchen would have a farmhouse style sink...
like this fireclay double...

and I really love the look of this one-piece stainless steel style...

PlumbTile's bath and kitchen tile selection really gets your creativity going...so many wonderful choices!
The Porcelanosa Tile lines feature some great inspiration!
Some of my favorites...

I am definitely inspired!  It's going to be a fun journey
making our lakehouse, into our lakehome!

What would be on your dream kitchen list?

Thank you PlumbTile for partnering with me on this post!
I love your products!

I received compensation from PlumbTile for this post...all opinions are my own.

Until next time...

  1. I have always wanted to live by a lake. Water is so soothing to me! I can't wait until you move in and decorate it in the next year or so.

  2. Best of luck. You will have so much fun re-doing everything. We're looking to retire to our lake house in 2 years too. We've been slowly working on it over the past few years to get it ready too. If it was up to my husband, we'd be moved down there already. :-)

  4. Its so great that you have a plan, Linda! I so hope we semi-retire to our lakehouse. My dream is that we spend summers there and winters in the city.

I love what you've done. Those gorgeous cabinets should be kept, you are smart. Too many want to paint wood and I love it when it is a piece that needs jazzing up. Some wood is perfect and beautiful just as it is. My new cabinets are a deep sable brown. I love it and I don't want an all white kitchen. The tile you pictured is gorgeous. I must have looked for that for days on end. The stone-looking tile was high on my list. There is so much to choose from, it's confusing!

I wish you all the best. Keep us posted!
