Simply Halloween...

Happy Halloween, everyone!  Thank you so much for all of your nice comments about the front porch decorating on my last post!  It has been a very busy fall around here with lots of family and work happenings, so my decorating is very simple and seasonal this year!  I just added a few pretty accents to what I already had in place.  Remember the sweet little pumpkins I posted about from Becky of Timewashed?

The mantel has been much the same since spring...I've been enjoying the simple look and just added some little white pumpkins and a glittery sign...

A few seasonal accents in the dining area...

Simple it is, this year...and I'm loving it!  Hope you have a wonderful Halloween!

Until next time...

A Fall Welcome...

Fall is quickly passing here...thought I'd share a few photos of our front entry!  The alyssum is still blooming from summer, so I just added some mums and pumpkins...

I love to use pumpkins that aren't the traditional orange...

This sign was done on an old cabinet front by artist Suzanne Thiesfeld...

A little further out front, the twig planter is full of blooming mums, too...

Fall is over too quickly!  My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you on the East Coast, facing Hurricane Sandy...

Until next time...

A Simple Project...

Recently, I decided to replace my countertop paper towel holder.  I wanted something to hang on the side of my cabinet to save space and be at a handy level.  After checking online, and finding several nice, but pricey options...I decided to design my own!  I decided to do something with an industrial look and headed to the hardware store to pick up some galvanized pipe and fittings in the plumbing aisle!
I used 1/2" size pipe and bought~
  • a length of 12" pipe
  • a length of 4" pipe
  • a 90 degree elbow
  • a 3" plate
  • a cap

These assembled in about a minute!  You can try putting it together at the store to make sure the pieces all go together.  After deciding where I wanted it, we drilled holes for bolts, and put the bolts through the cabinet wall.   Use bolts long enough to go through the cabinet, plus a little extra for nuts.  Nuts were attached to the bolts on the inside of the cabinet to tighten down for a strong hold.

Before...

After...

We are loving this addition to the kitchen, easily accessible and so easy to change out the roll...I think it looks great, too!  It was a fun, under $15 project, much less than the $50-$60 dollars for holders I saw online...and it is my style!

Until next time...have a wonderful weekend!

Fun Finds for Fall...

I'm getting some items ready to bring over to my antique booth, and thought I'd share some of my latest fun finds!  Isn't this a beautiful old cup?  The color combination is unusual and perfect for fall.

And I love the little old wood jewelry box!  The inside is covered in soft old velvet and lace edging...

A lovely old platter and two vintage souvenirs go nicely with some books I found earlier this year...

The pattern on the platter is so delicate...

A vintage birdcage is always a fun find...

and how about these wonderful old wool throws and blanket?  The top one is a Pendleton...

I love the rich fall colors and textures...don't you?

Until next time...

End of the Tour...Bachman's 2012 Fall Ideas House...

The outdoors at the Bachman's Fall Ideas House is always fun and colorful and the 2012 house was no exception!  The planters and flower boxes were perfect for the season...

The garage area was ready for a fun Halloween party!  A tarpaper chalkboard scene decorated this wall...

Love these spooky ghosts...

The outdoor shed was made into a clubhouse with lots of artsy fun for kids...

The hanging loveseat was made of old tires...

The yard had a great firepit area,

 a lovely arbor,

and the walls of the buildings were decorated with lots of plants and fun hanging displays!

I've included a video that Bachman's made of Fall Entry Decor Ideas...the burlap wreath above is included!
