Fun Finds...Junk Bonanza Goodies...

Well, if you follow my blog, you know this time of year is busy getting ready for Junk Bonanza!  Thought I'd share a few of my finds and what I worked on today!  This great cubby is a recent garage sale find!  I like the curved legs!  Look at all of these wonderful zinc jar lids...they wash up so pretty...

love the white glass interiors...

Today I found this old aqua green industrial beauty at a garage sale!  It's a commercial mangle ironer.

Great chippiness, rustiness...and OH that color!  I haven't cleaned it up yet, but should be pretty!  Lots of makeover possibilities on this piece, too!

I found this big old tool tote and vintage gameboards at an antique store last weekend...the tote has the best chippy white and green paint...

Don't you love the galvanized banding?

Tomorrow's another work day...lots more pieces to get ready!

The Dawn of Love...

Thought I'd take a break from Junk Bonanza preparations to share an art assemblage I created last month!  I love to tell a story with my pieces and this is one of young love!  I started with a fun old sewing accessories tin~ I loved the color...

I altered the lid with an old dance ticket and photo corners...

and added a lovely old velvet millinery flower, great aqua seam binding, and a sheet music title...which also became the title of my piece!

Vintage maps cover the interior...

and I was inspired by a charming old photograph of a young woman.  A tiny bouquet of millinery flowers held with an old earring...lace, sheet music, a lotto number for sweet sixteen, and a French floral card for Myosotis...Forget-Me-Not...completes the inner lid.

The lower section holds old jewelry and buttons, another dance ticket, and three old spools wrapped in lace, thread, and seam binding.   I was inspired by the wonderful aqua color...

A little sweet nothing tops a spool ...

To me, it is like looking into a memory box of lovely souvenirs from days gone by...

A Little Change-Up...

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I spent some time on a FUN antiquing trip with my daughter as we are beginning to prepare in earnest for Junk Bonanza ,which is coming up in a short 3-1/2 weeks!  On the home front, I decided it was time to change-up the hutch!  I enjoyed the spring hutch so much, with all of the green and yellow...but daffodils in August is pushing it!  I have been looking towards fall more and more right now and the hutch was calling out to me for something new...

Lots of stoneware, baskets, wood and silverplate...

I found this antique basket at an estate sale not long ago...

love the braided handle...

An altered peat pot holds old clothespins...

such beautiful patina on the wood!

You might recognize many of my fun finds and projects gathered here.

I collect engraved silverware...hotel silver, and others...

Another collection is antique cow prints...I used one here...

of course, one of my old scales had to be included, too!

Milk glass, stoneware, transferware, lace, and wood all have their special places here...

This beautiful bowl holds long dried hydrangea...love the faded, pale tones...

The oak leaf decoration is wonderful for the season...

The tea leaf plate I recently found, partners with a teapot which was my mother-in-law's...

and a salt glaze jug shares the space with brown and white transferware, and rooster salt and pepper shakers!

I love the faded colors of this beautiful old book.

I'm not missing those daffodils too much!
