A Fun Collage...Fairy Whispers...

I am always inspired by vintage ephemera!  This week I worked on a new collage piece!  I used a 9 x 12 canvasboard base and created many layers.  Many scans of my old ephemera were used~ The decorative border edges were from a 1872 map, and I topped that using the vintage French floral cards I found recently.  Vintage sheet music, and an old French postcard were next, with a piece of wide cotton eyelet edging with ribbon, vintage rickrack, and buttons bordering the lower section...

I used one of The Graphics Fairy's Fairy Sheet Music graphics for the Fairy Whispers lettering...

and one of her pretty butterfly graphics, as well!  A worn metal office clip holds a vintage French vocabulary card~  une etoile~ "star"...

A fun vintage punched tin star Christmas light reflector is topped with a little clock gear and an old typewriter letter, and I scattered old gummed stars around the fairy!

Finally, I topped it off by adding a vintage flash card word "believe"...

I was happy with the whimsical  and three dimensional feeling of the piece!  I am linking up to~

A Wet and Windy Fall Day...and a Sweet Gift...

It has been a really gray, wet day with very high winds here in Minnesota.  There are even the first snowflakes of the season predicted tonight and tomorrow!  With these strong winds, I am sure most trees will be bare in the next few days!  I've never minded days like this though, and tend to hibernate and get cozy.  I spent today working on an etsy collage piece, that I'll share with you soon!

I received a sweet surprise this week from my wonderful blog friend Cindy Adkins!  She sent me this charming Autumn ATC tag entitled "Family"!  It just brightened my day!

If you haven't visited Cindy's blogs~ but I'm sure many of you already follow her~ she has a blog about mixed media, altered art, and collage called Whimsical Musings ...

and has an inspirational prayer blog called I Owe It All To Him.  She also has opened a new etsy shop with her lovely art creations!  She is a talented writer and artist, and the best kind of caring blog friend!  I hope you'll stop by and visit her and say hi from me!  Thank you, Cindy!

Until next time...

I spent the last couple of days down at our family lakehome, getting things ready for winter!  The boat is in storage, the heavy lift is in, and the dock sections are stacked...

There is still a little color...

and touches of fall amongst the dry leaves...Brown Eyed Susans...

Chinese Lanterns...

But there are mostly bare branches here now...

and LOTS of leaves on the ground...

Here's what I raked just from our small front yard...

It's beautiful at the lake whatever the season...

Fun Finds...

I had some fun finds this week!  Garage sales have begun to slow down now, but the thrift stores are always open!  I found some nice vintage wood hangers... you can see one of my first posts, where I featured them here .  I showed this fun use...

The tablecloth under the hangers is a nice light ecru color with a rustic finish~ it has a few tiny flaws, but lots of fabric for pillows, runners, or chair seat covers!  Look at the nice fabric texture...

My favorite find this week is this lovely French glass bowl, in a charming silverplate basket stand.  It has a great twisted handle with crosshatching and embossed flowers...

I love the basket decoration and the glass is marked Reims France...

Another fun find this week is a vintage hand mirror and this great chippy tin!

The tin is for Super Extra Marshmallows!  I love the crane decoration and even though it is quite chippy, I love the charming look!

Vintage scenic linen postcards are always something I like to find...

and I love these romantic plates... the first is a hand painted Bavarian...

the second is an antique English Indian Tree plate...

And I'm always looking for a pretty piece of tole... this silent butler has an unusual shape, and lots of pretty hand painted florals!

I'm linking up to My Cottage Charm's Treasures and Trinkets Thursday
and Debbiedoos Garage Salen Party

Watch for my next post~ my blogversary is coming up and a giveaway!!

Until next time...
