More Fun Finds and Blogging Friends...

I had a lot of fun going to garage sales and thrift stores today!   My favorite find was this graphic coffee cup rack~ I love how it looks against the red shutters~ and it's nice to have coffee cups right at hand, too!
Most of our finds this week were for our upcoming antique sales~ we found quite a few great old wood crates and boxes that will be used in displays...

I love this rustic old crate with an Ohio name ...

Look at the charming vintage chippy metal pieces~ I want to use them as part of a BIG clock face...

I thought this set of vintage paint by numbers were colorful and fun...the elderly woman I purchased them from told me she painted them herself many years ago!  I love knowing the history of a piece!

I also found these vintage French books...

some souvenir spoons...

and some lovely old spindles on which I'll wrap vintage ribbon or lace...

Also today I received a WONDERFUL purchase from Julie of junkinjulie !  Look at these awesome, huge, rustic galvanized funnels!  I am planning to do some projects with these~ my daughter wanted to take them and turn them into hanging light fixtures, so we'll see how they end up!

Julie is the sweetest blogging friend~ she sent me these wonderful goodies, too!  I just LOVE them all~ THANK YOU, Julie!

Earlier this month, I attended the Junkmarket /Art and Architecture Show in Minneapolis!  It was full of wonderful junk creations, vintage, and antiques and it was fun to meet some of the Junkmarket contributors there.  Unfortunately, I forgot my camera (still can't believe I did that...) but my daughter snapped this one  with Kathy of Sylvias Vintage Daughter and Janis of junkdreams and me.  It was SO nice to meet these sweet women whose blogs I enjoy!

A Simple Project Day...

Today I worked on another message board project...a very simple one, that could be adapted for many other projects!  I had two vintage green blackboards (or would they be greenboards?)~ measuring 10-1/2" x 13", they are a cute size for a message board.  I used some rub-on words that I had leftover from another project...I'm sure the "remember" words were meant for another meaning, but hey, it works...

I glued on some old wood scrabble trays for chalk holders and a metal clip for paper messages.  I'm going to drill small holes at the top corners for easy hanging.

A very simple project- kids could do this one, too!  I'll leave you with some shots from my front entry...just love the colors this year!

More Fun Finds and This and That...

We had our city-wide garage sales starting yesterday...the weather was wonderful, and the finds abundant!  We found LOTS of items for our upcoming vintage sales, but thought I would share some of them items that I decided to keep!  I just love the huge framed print above (it is much prettier in person!)- we are finishing our screen porch and covered patio area, into one large garden style three season room- and it is perfect for what I am looking for!  The photo below is from the screen porch section- it is something of a construction zone- but I still want to be able to relax out there while we are re-doing it!  The big print will probably be used in the dining area that we are making in the connected covered patio- French doors and windows are going in soon, and a deck will be going on the front...all a work in progress!

Another piece I decided to keep was a vintage window that had been frosted and hand-painted with leaves and a welcome sign, and this nice-sized architectural plaster piece.  These will probably end up in the porch or my foyer.

I found some fun pieces to take to the lake, where we decorate in a lodge style!  I LOVE this old pillow sham and elk rug...

Two dollars for the sham and a quarter for the rug!  I'll hang the rug on one of the walls...

and these charming serving trays...

I have been looking for a plate like this one with buffaloes for quite awhile~ my daughter kept one with wild boar...

Another goal I had this week was to find some pots to start a little herb garden~ I bought all three of these for $1.25!  Everything is growing so well right now, it's the perfect time to start them!

All of the gardens are lovely right now...another variety of lilacs began blooming today~ they are a later variety and much stronger scented...

My pugs, Sophie and Bailey enjoy joining me in the yard, too...

They don't care too much about my finds, though...

Fun Finds...

It's been a beautiful week here~ look at our lovely bridal veil bush in full bloom...

It's been perfect weather for going out and treasure hunting!  This week I've found some unusual and interesting items!  Most of these items will be heading for Junk Bonanza in September or our etsy shop!  One of the more unusual finds was this lot of about 100 vintage grocery store price stampers!

I'm going to give the set a good cleaning and they will be ready for artists or collectors!  Look at this fun lot of tins, funnels, and a vintage lunchbox...

and these vintage button cards, box, tin, and little hourglass style piece~

There was a box of vintage hardware and fun little wheels, some brushes, and old file box, and a great tin litho adding machine!

Look at this fabulous old 1872 Atlas...

it is loaded with some wonderful old maps...someone had used parts of it as an old scrapbook, so it is suitable for dismantling...

There was this great industrial drop side office table...

a fun rusty little wheel rim...

some naturally shed deer antlers and a big vintage oyster tin...

I loved this slide box case- it has such fun dividers...

Here's a vintage mailbox with a fun industrial look...

and a cute child's peg desk~

Finally, there was a lot of four 1913 store signs- they had some damage, but I loved the graphics.  Look at this one featuring Paris...

Later this week, our town is having city-wide sales!  The weather is looking great, and I can't wait!
