A Dog's Life...

I decided to try an assemblage collage on stretched canvas- it's a 3-D piece made of all vintage materials- I call it "A Dog's Life"!  I love dogs and collect vintage dog art and items!  This piece is meant to be graphic and whimsical- her sparkly little crown was cut from an old cardboard glittered Christmas light reflector!  I used old ephemera- sheet music, bingo and playing cards, a vintage weight scale fortune, dictionary entry- with many old goodies- letters, buckles, a strap, an erector piece, game pieces, metal gear and tag, etc.  It was a fun project!  I'm looking forward to trying some other pieces...I'm so inspired by many of you!

  1. Hi Linda,
I love this piece. It's fun to collect ephemera to have handy for projects like this. As you demonstrated, creatively combining a little bit of this and a little bit of that and you have a beautiful piece of art.

  3. What a lovely piece.

I like the way you put it all together.

I am enjoying reading your blog, and I like the quote on your sidebar today.

'not the finding of the thing, but making something of it after it is found' ...how true that is!

  10. I love the colors in this and the clever way you wove the text through the buckle. I find it so hard to sacrifice some of my collections for the art pieces but the results make it worth it!

  24. Linda~ I am also a lover of dogs. Especially when they are mine! Loved your project and I am sure that I would like you too. You know it says alot about a persons character when they are someone who loves animals. At least I think so. I also have a project that I entered in the Creative Spirit Challenge... Such fun!

    Take Care~ Sherry
